Multilingual Families Clubs

Unity in Diversity

The European Union is founded on the principle of “unity in diversity” – a diversity of cultures, customs, beliefs, and languages. In addition to the 24 official languages, another 60 languages spoken in certain regions or groups and over 80 languages of national minorities and incoming communities are included in the EU heritage. In European society, the emerging issue of multilingualism – among adults, children and children’s collectives, as well as whole families – must also be addressed.

Introduction of the project

One possible solution to this problem is the Multilingual Families Clubs. The idea of these clubs is based on the experience of similar facilities that have been operating for decades in Western Europe. The goal of the Multilingual Families Clubs project is to create a comprehensive set of tools for:

  • establishment and successful operation of clubs for multilingual families in other countries
  • activities and games for children and parents to promote multilingualism, multiculturalism, and dialogue between children and parents
  • methodical management of multilingual clubs for managers (primary schools, non-profit organizations, leisure centers, etc.)
  • raising awareness of the benefits of multilingualism between parents and educational institutions

Target group

The target group of the project are both multilingual families themselves and educators working with these families.
