Terms and Conditions

The parties mentioned in this contract, whose rights and obligations are explained in detail by the following rules, are students, whose personal data is used during the application process, and the language school organisation PELICAN, LTD, company number. 269 50 189, headquarters Lidická 9 602 00 Brno.

General Provisions

a. By applying to the course, students obtain access to the school’s services offered within the framework of the stipulated course type, and are expected to adhere to any of the courses’ requirements. The school is responsible for overseeing the implementation of these services for a fee. For more information concerning the particularities of these services, please consult our main web page.

b. Registration for a course can either be done on-line, through the school’s website, or at the school office. If registration takes place at the later, the application is valid after registration and payment for the course has been made in accordance with the terms and conditions for payments. If applying on-line, registration is valid after the application form has been submitted, the student has received a confirmation letter from the school and the course fees have been paid in accordance with the terms and conditions for payments. Once the application has been confirmed, the student is responsible for paying the course fees fees by either bank transfer or cash paid at the school office.

c. Whilst on the school premises, the student is expected to respect rules on the usage of any space under the school’s jurisdiction, including that which belongs to the owner of the building . If the student breaks these rules then he/she will be kicked off the course without any compensation.

d. Terms and Conditions apply to every language course organised by the school for the public. Any other claims made by the student, which fall outside of the terms and conditions, will not be taken into consideration. Extra-judicial settlements concerning consumer disputes are in accordance with law n. 634/1992 sb, of consumer protection, as amended, by the relevant Czech Trade Inspection.

Terms and Conditions for Payments

a. Course fees are paid by either bank transfer, in cash at the school office or by selected benefit vouchers. Other forms of payment are not accepted by the school.

b. Course fees must be paid in full no later than seven working days before the start of the course, unless an agreement on the repayment of said course fees has been reached or unless otherwise decided upon via individual agreement. If the course fees are not paid by the end of this allotted time, the student’s application will be automatically cancelled.

Warranty and Cancellation Conditions

a. If the school is unable to run the respective course, the student will receive the course fees back in full. When a course is cancelled, students will be notified no later than 48 hours before the planned start of the course

b. If the school is unable to deliver a part of the lessons, the student has the right to postpone the course completion date or the arrange a substitute lesson at another time. However, lessons that the student is not able to attend, are in no way replaceable.

c. Course fees are non-refundable. The student can transfer the course fee to a different course offered by the school. If an agreement is reached during the teaching period, then the student is entitled to an amount of the course fee as per agreed.

c. Course fees may be paid by bank transfer or by cash at the school office.

d. Whilst on the school premises, the student is expected to respect rules on the usage of any space under the school’s jurisdiction, including that which belongs to the owner of the building. If the student breaks these rules then he/she will be kicked off the course without any compensation.

b. Students on individual courses must pay the course fee in advance, or at least the monthly amount as specified by the price list. Course fees must be paid in order for the applicant to be registered on the applicant database for individual courses.

c. Any additional payments relating to the ongoing course will be paid in accordance with these conditions. Once the student has completed the course he/she has paid for, he/she will have to pay the course fees of other courses before being allowed to participate in them.

Warranty and Cancellation Conditons

a. If the school is unable to run the respective course, the student will receive the course fees back in full. In the case of a cancellation of a planned course, the student will be notified no later than 48 hours before the planned start of the course.

b. In the case of illness or other serious problems, students on individual courses have the right to cancel an organised lesson. In such a case, it is the duty of the student to inform the school by telephone and by email at info@skolapelican.com, no later than 24 hours before the lesson. If the student is unable to notify the school, then the lesson cannot be refunded.

c. If the lesson is cancelled by the school, the student is entitled to transfer the payment for the lesson to another date.

d. If the student cancels his/her application before the start of the course, a fee of 1,000 Czech Crowns is deducted from the course fees. The remainder is then returned to the student.

e. The student must inform the school of the date he/she intends to complete the course, which must be at least one month before the end of all scheduled classes. If the student complies with the aforementioned conditions, then he/she will have the remainder of the course fee refunded. However, if this is not the case, then the student is not entitled to a refund of the course fees.

f. The student is responsible in following the agreed-upon teaching hours. This can only be changed in exceptional cases and after talking with the school office.

Terms and Conditions for students on a year long Czech for Foreigners course

a. By applying to the course, students obtain access to the school’s services offered within the framework of the stipulated course type, and are expected to adhere to any of the courses’ requirements. The school is responsible for overseeing the implementation of these services for a fee. For more information concerning the particularities of these services, please consult our main web page.

b. The student may pay a deposit, which corresponds to half of the cost of the course, as in accordance with the current list of prices available on the school’s website. The applicant is responsible for paying for the entirety of the course. Exceptions can only be granted in extraordinary situations, including the following: rejection of the application on the grounds of the applicant’s inability to obtain a residence permit for the Czech Republic and serious health problems.

b. Application takes place at the school office or on-line through the school’s website. By registering, the applicant agrees to pay the course fees in advance. The student may pay a deposit, which corresponds to half of the cost of the course, as in accordance with the current list of prices available on the school’s website. The applicant is responsible for paying for the entirety of the course.

Warranty and Cancellation Conditions

a. If the school is unable to run the respective course, the student will receive the course fees back in full.

b. If the student withdraws his/her application before the start of the course, he/she will have to pay a handling fee, which corresponds to 5% of the courses’ overall cost.

c. Exceptions from paying this handling fee can only be granted in extraordinary situations, including the following: rejection of the application on the grounds of the applicant’s inability to obtain a residence permit for the Czech Republic and serious health problems. In the aforementioned cases, the student will receive back the course fees without any handling fee.

d. After the course has started the school is not obligated to reimburse the course fees.
